About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the family that adopted Quonqian is the same family that raised Lu, and that the father of the girl is not the same man as his step-mother. Quonquon is the illegitimate child of Lu's step-father, and therefore, has no right to live in the house that Lu has built for him. He is, however, the rightful heir to the family fortune, and so he has the right to stay and raise his daughter. He tells her that she has to leave the house immediately, because she has violated the terms of the adoption contract. She tells him that she did not want to make trouble for him, but now that she knows everything about him, she wants to help him. She asks him to collect the information she needs to help her, and he agrees to do so. When he arrives, he is overjoyed to see his daughter, who looks just like him. They had thought that they would be able to give her a life without worry or concern, and they had hoped that she would get pregnant, but she has never had a child, so they are not worried about her. He asks her what is the relationship between her and him, and she answers that there is something he wants to know.
