About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's been looking for a job. He's also worked for the zoo, so he knows a thing or two about dealing with animals. He says that animals love him because they have teeth, and that's why they love him so much. He also says that he doesn't need to deal with the people at the zoo because he can do whatever he wants with his life. The narrator says that if he had to do it all over again, he'd do it any other way. He compares himself to a guy who used to work for the ceo of the zoo. The ceo used to give two s*** about his workers, but now he just wastes his time doing nothing but complaining about how awful life is. He tells the narrator that he used to be around before this job existed, before ceo's who didn't give a rat's a s--- about their workers. Now, he says, he can't do the same job for the rest of his life, but he'll do it anyway. He asks the narrator what he just said, and the narrator replies that he just wanted to ask him what he thought of the job he was doing. He then asks if the narrator thought that the job was making the world better, and if he thought that he was enjoying life, not ruining others. The man says that'd be a waste of time, and he'm not going to share that with anyone. The dude says that the narrator should have thought about this before he made him do the job that he is doing. Instead, the narrator tells the man that he needs to get out of the house and get his life back on track. He promises to show the man how to do this, and then the narrator promises to beat the crap out of him if he does not do it.
