The next morning, Richard is in the middle of a meeting with the president. He's worried that he's going to lose his job because the president has already approved his plan to send a bunch of astronauts to the moon. He tells the president that he doesn't want to be a candidate for president, because he thinks the president already approved it. The president tells Richard that he can go ahead and do whatever he wants with his plan, but he can't do anything about the fact that his daughter's life is in danger. Richard tells him that the moon's nanites will protect him and his family from any harm that might come from outer space. He also says that his plan is to use the moon as a laboratory to test new technologies. Richard says that's a good idea, since the moon is so far away from Earth that it's hard to get a good look at what's happening on the moon from Earth.
