About This Chapter
"Let me at him" is the first line of the chapter's opening dialogue. It's the first time we're introduced to the "half-demon" , and it's clear that he's drunk. He's not sure what's going on, but he does know that he wants to find a job. A friend introduced him to a "gay bar" as a "sommelier," which is a fancy way of saying bartender. He doesn't know why he'd want to hang out in a "bar for half-demons" . But he does want to know what the heck is going on. He wants to know if the bar is "serious" or if "serious everyone" wants to pursue "what makes them happy." He'll ask the bartender when he gets back to school, and he'll tell him that he can't assume that the bar isn't "serious." In fact, he thinks that "serious people" don't really care what gender they are, and that "smile unlike humans" is a "different concept" for "half - demons." He also thinks that there's no difference between the genders of men and women, because "serious humans" can make people happy, whereas "half demons" can only make them happy. He also says that "we half- demons" are "beasts in nature," and that our ugliness is "our inability to
