The prince asks if the princess is afraid that the boy she met outside is in love with someone else. She replies that the prince is different from other men, and she will not believe him if he is unfaithful to her daughter. She tells the prince that they have agreed to oppose their marriage before, and that she suspects that she is faking her illness. She asks the prince if he would be willing to help her, and the prince replies that he understands peoples hearts. He tells the princess that he will be the one to break the news to the prince.
