Back at the inn, koff tries to convince himself that he's doing the right thing by killing the professor. He's not going to be killed, he says, because the professor's weapons aren't going to kill him. The armored command carrier approaches, and koff sees that it's Mark Leiter, who's on his own at the edge of the battlefield. Leiter is a pre-machine gun, so he'll be able to hit the professor if he sees him coming. There's a girl in the group, too, and she's worth killing if she kills Leiter. .
