The scene opens on the set of the upcoming film, "Escape from Life." The director, Ming-liang, and his assistant, Liu Shaoyan, are on their way to the set to prepare for the upcoming performance. The two men are surprised to find that the other is waiting for them on the stage. They are also surprised to learn that the man they are waiting for is none other than "Gu-jing" , who has not been home for a long time.
