About This Chapter
In this short scene, we learn that Ming-Ling's mother is out of town, and Ming's grandmother scolds her for not being more attentive to her daughter and son-in-law. Ming asks her father if he has ever loved his mother, and she tells him that her mother once said that meeting him is the "luckiest thing in the world" , but why does he feel sorry for his mother now that she's gone. She tells him to apologize to his grandmother, because she bullies her, and his mother once told him not to make it difficult on his father. She also says that he should be careful about his health, because if he gets sick, he'll be blamed, and he should not be angry.
