The duke asks why he is there, and she says that she wants to go for a walk. The duke tells her that she should not come to the harvest fete because she has not fully recovered. He tells her to stay with him and he will take care of her. She forgives him and tells him that she will not let him win again. She tells the duke that she has heard that the duke has ordered the doctor to be killed. He says that the doctor is a spy and that the enemy is trying to kill him. The Duke says that he will be back soon. He asks if he has heard about the rumor that the Duke wants to finish the rite of the harvest on behalf of the Duke himself. She says that other ministers have not seen the Duke all this time and that he is not ill. She asks him not to worry about it. The pain is gone, she says, and her little girl should be happy.
