The narrator thanks the reader for coming to see the story. He compares the clothes worn by da nan to those worn by viets, and wonders why the highness of the people does not realize that they are using tools to change their appearance. He also tells the reader that since the wedding day, the people have become so proud that they have not taken three steps outside of the house. The narrator asks the reader to comment on the point of view of the characters.
