The next morning, Mr. Wen is back at work. He's got something important to say to his boss, but he doesn't want to change his mind about working in the shop. He says he's sorry that he has to say goodbye, but that he'll make up for it in the future. He leaves a note to say good-bye, and then he heads back to the office. He can't figure out why he hasn't come back yet. He thinks maybe it's because of bad connection, or maybe he just didn't have time to answer the phone. He hears the phone ring nearby, and he thinks that someone has fallen into the well. He goes down to the well to see if he can save the man. He finds only one pipe that's wide enough to fit someone's body in, so he leaves.
