In this short scene, we are introduced to the main character, the Senior Malvolio, who is fighting his way into the top ranks of the Brotherhood of the Elders of the World. The fight is being fought in front of a large group of elders, and the two men are in a tense state of mind. The Senior is worried that his opponent will be injured, and he tries to calm him down by reminding him that the fight is for the benefit of the whole world, not just the two of them. The two men decide to fight at the beginning of the fight, and Malvolo attacks first, but the Senior tries to stop him by saying that he is too old to fight the likes of him.
