About This Chapter
The narrator tells Jane that she is rich, but that she has not yet cleared the air. He tells her that he went home because he was angry with her, and he kept his phone in his car. Jane is anxious, but he tells her it is not her fault, because he did not know she was his wife. He says that he was with his best friend at the time, and that since she has told him everything, now only one person can clear his name. Jane tells him that she will tell the truth after she is done with the Jane family. The narrator asks if he has been to the company. The front desk told him that there was no such person there. He goes on to say that he always goes through the vip channels with the president, because the front desk knows that he is lying. He adds that he knows that the president will show up at the jazz club. Jane wonders why it is so easy for the news of the ceo to get out. The jazz club has so many rooms, she says, that she cannot just tell Jane that her uncle has booked her a private room. She decides to go to the corridors and spy on them.
