In the courtyard of the palace, Agamemnon tells his brother-in-law that he is going back to his mother's hometown in the north. He tells her that two months ago, some powerful men picked up his mother and sent her away, but the lord did not want to see her. Now that the lord is in charge of the north, he has the power to make his own decisions about the future of the city. He asks her to come back to the city with him, but she refuses.
