Back at the convent, Dr. Manette is pleased to see her old friend. She's glad that he's okay, but she's also worried that he might have been killed by the demon. Dr. Menette asks what happened to him, and he says that if he had been killed, he wouldn't have believed in God. He's not sure if the demon is a demon or not, but he doesn't think it's a good idea to feel grateful for a demon.
