The next day, Minglai and Xinglai prepare for their wedding. Minglai tells his mother-in- law that he loves her, and she accepts the marriage as soon as it is arranged. She asks when they will be bringing Minglai home, and Minglai says that they will have to have their own truck to move everything. He says that the city where he grew up used to be his home, but now that he is living there, it will become his home. He gives Minglai a bouquet of flowers from his garden, and he asks her why she hasn't taken off the flower yet. She says that she has to wear the flower for the rest of her life, because she is wearing Minglai's flower. She remembers one time when they slept side by side in college, when the photographer and the garden society collaborated on a photo project, and they both slept in the same bed. She tells Minglai that she will always remember that time, because he said that he would never forget his entire life.
