About This Chapter
In this final scene, aditya bids farewell to his lover, who is now dead. He asks why the world does not allow him to "simply cease" his relationship with the eunuch. He wonders why he has been so courageous in his convictions, and wonders why his life has not been spared. aditya asks if the girl is with him, and taqa replies that she is not with him. He apologizes for being absent from the room, and says that his presence has done more harm than good. izzy will soon arrive to take the girl away and leave him and Casasandra behind. He says that he has heard that he can find the "imperfections" of the world, and that the eektheatek has been having "visions of blood" and "smoke" all day. He adds that he doesn't think a guardian should forget love, and to "war we bang you cannot do this ready." aditya says that it is not worth it for him to tarnish the perfections of his life. He returns home and leaves, and he says that the girl's eyes will give him the advantage he needs to "gaze out through these prophets eyes" and see things "yet to be" . He is sure that he will burn the papers and his helm when he dies, but he does not know what he will do with them. He tells aditya that izzy has come to see him and asks if he would like to see the two of them together. He replies that he would never have thought he would see them again after the fire had burned out, so he walked by the tracks until he came to their end.
