In this chapter, we learn that the Bai family has lost all hope of defending the island from the seabeasts, and that the only way to do so is to awaken the bloodlines of the people who live on the island. In order to do this, the family needs to be able to heal the wounds of those who have been killed by sea beasts. This means that they need to have the ability to heal wounds that have been inflicted on them by sea creatures. In other words, they have to have a way to heal their own wounds, not those of other people.
