In this chapter, we learn more about Amy's relationship with Darnay. We learn that Amy and Darnay used to be schoolmates, and that Darnay is a "pretty high qualification" man. Amy asks Darnay if he wants to go and sweep the tomb of her father. Darnay says he does, and Amy says she'll go with him. Amy tells Darnay that she still has an idea about the plan, so she doesn't want to get lost. She tells him to take it easy on her, and then she tells him that she's going to ask Darnay to go with her to the tomb. He says he'll do it, too, if Amy can handle it. Amy says that she knows she cares for Darnay, and if she can't, then she should just leave.
