This chapter opens with a soliloquy by the Lord of the Rings, Milton, in which he says that he is surrounded by the "armor of knowledge" and that he has slipped away from the "star energy" of the universe and is now surrounded by an enemy. He says that the enemy has a "unusual burst of strength," and that it has been a long time since he has met an enemy that could get him fired up. He then shows Milton the corporal cultivation method he has used in the past, and Milton thanks him for teaching him how to use it. He tells Milton that he will give him credit for that, and that they will never ever cross the enemy, even if the enemy is beaten. Milton says that this is all because he teaches them well, and they will not ever cross him. He explains that the medicine he took was the "life pith," which is the special offering of the Twelve Mountain Chiefs. The pearls of the lake clams are the main ingredients of the elixir, which is what the Black Stone King uses to control his subjects. Milton explains that there are three different levels of life, which are the "pith," "lees," and "the watchtower." He says, "swish swish swish patter mu patter patter mi this isn't how you treated your guest." He then asks Milton if he is the strongest of the twelve chiefs, and he replies, "roughly speaking . .
