About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator explains his decision to become a killer. He refuses to be "a bystander" while the world around him is corrupted and rotten, and he refuses to let his love of music become corrupted. He tells the audience that he is just starting out in the music business, and that he does not need a ticket to the gig tonight. He says that he caught a fanatic trying to get an autograph from him, and this is a "completely disproportionate response" . The narrator says that if he takes one step on the stage, the fanatic will tear him apart, and the crowd will think he is weird. He warns the crowd that they are not meant for him to be back at the gig, and tells them to be careful around the stage. He asks the crowd if they are ready to go "craaazz" , but they refuse to listen to him, saying he is not cool with being killed by "some crazy groupies." He says he is a killer too, and if he needs to be killed, he will make it happen.
