About This Chapter
In this short scene, we are introduced to a number of characters who have appeared in previous episodes of King Lear's Lear. The first is Falstaff, who has appeared in the play as a young man and who is now a member of the royal court. He is the king's personal physician, and he is also the man in charge of the court's medical services. Falstaff is also one of the most powerful men in the court, and his presence is felt throughout the play. When Lear enters the room, he is greeted by Falstaff's father, who tells him that his son has been killed in the line of duty. The father also tells Falstaff that he will be returning to his home country in a few days, and that he has a message for his son: he wishes him well
