About This Chapter
Is it the demon who has caused the world to become so horrible? Or is it the ignorance and poverty that have made the world so horrible in the first place? The answer to both questions is yes. It's not the demon's fault, it's the ignorance of the world that has made it so horrible. The world, he says, is a place where people like him don't fear even if they're mixed with other people. He asks if the world is the reason for the world's horribleness. He wonders if fear is the root of evil, or if ignorance is the cause of evil. The answer is yes, he asks. He wants to know how the king can know where his wife should have gone when he took a tiny heart out of her chest. Why didn't he go into the underworld when he embraced her heart instead of his own heart? He asks why the king doesn't go to hell when he killed his wife. He also asks why he can't kill the king when he breaks his teeth. He's already near immortal. The king asks if he knows why he came to the palace to find all of the pieces of his wife's heart
