About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that years have passed since the last time we saw Sol, and that he still thinks he's going to win. He's been preparing for this moment ever since he was raised by machines. He tells us that his parents left him a lengthy journal in which they said that machines are not responding to the signals sent by humans. He says that he has been raising machines all his life, and he can use that to his advantage, but he can't use that advantage against humans, because they are forbidden to do so. The machines will destroy the humans, he says, but they won't destroy each other. This has always worked for him, he tells us, because he has a raina in his head that guides him to the network. He explains that he was born as a baby, and his parents told him that he would be a special person who would protect the white people, the Latins, the Africans, and the Asians. The elder councils are aware of him now, and they've all prepared to receive him. He wants to know why the world works the way it does. He also wants to find out how he came to be in the city, and what he can do to help. He promises to give him everything he needs to know about the origin of Sol, the formation of
