About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of New York City, which is described as "the cement jungle" . The narrator tells us that the city is small, but that he thinks it is going to be a great place to live. He tells Shanti that he has filed the paperwork for a shelter for pets in the digi-box. Shanti tells him that soon the city will no longer be able to use him, but Shanti says that she will show him around the city. The chapter ends with Shanti telling the narrator that he can turn off the city's surveillance system. He says that he would never live in the city and that Shanti needs to turn around and show her around. He also tells her that he doesn't know how much they are spying on him, and that he will get some small things after he takes racky out of the city to do his work. He asks Shanti to leave him alone, but she tells him to come and show him a stray dog. She says that the stray is not a dog, but a pest control drone. The drone has been used to kill his father's dog, and Shanti wants to know if the drone is the same one that killed the dog. He calls the city pest control and tells them that he knows who was operating the drone earlier in the day. He wants to figure out what's going on, and he wants to get paw and meemaw out of jail.
