About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the two of them used to be good friends. They used to go to the super-natural studies club together, and they used to watch fireworks together when they were at school. The narrator tells us that he's been thinking about the witches and how they can use their powers. He says that he used to think that it would be nice to be able to use these powers, too, but that he doesn't know how to use them. He's not a witch, he tells us, but he does know that he can't be sad anymore. He tells the narrator that he hasn't been sad in a long time. He just seems to be crying because of the events of the past few days. He asks the narrator to tell him the reason for his sadness, and the narrator tells him that it's because he has been trying to talk to her about the charms of the other guy. He adds that he wants to tell her something about the charm power, but the narrator is too busy talking about the elections to listen to him. He also tells her that the charms didn't work, because the other girl he tried to get to make love with was too much of a bust to be near her.
