About This Chapter
In this chapter, Gildarts and the old man have a conversation about the future. The old man says that he's too young to call himself an old man, and that he only has one teacher. He's not worried about the two of them, though, because he'll take them under his wing. Gildart says he'd be happy to have them all around him if they'd all come to his side. He doesn't think they're all that impressive, though. He says that they don't have to warm up to him one bit, because there's nobody like him around here. He also says that if they wanted to, they could come under his wings. The two men eat some food and talk about the past, and then they talk about what's been going on in the mountains, and how they've been on a "monster hunting quest" in the north. They're glad to be safe, and they all agree that it's a dangerous place to be in, especially if you're from the west. They also agree that the old guy is a little tricky, but that he can be a tricky guy, too. They talk about how they have a daughter, and she's proof of his life, because she told him her name before they parted ways. They agree that they'll all be part of the gang, and the two men say goodbye.
