The next morning, Miss Fusehina wakes up in her room, wondering what has happened to her. She's worried about her health, but she's also worried about what's going to happen to her father. He's summoned a bunch of religious men from the north to come and pray with him every day, and he's not going to let her stay with him. She begs him to look at her and not let her hair grow so long on her head. He doesn't want her to stay beside him, and she begs him not to, because she can't bear to be around her father any longer. She runs off to find her father, who's come to check on her.
