The next morning, Long wonders if he's been hiding something from him. He's worried that the detective is trying to find out what happened to his father. He wants to know if he can forgive Long if he confesses. Long says that he has had a hard time forgiving his father because of the way he treated his family. He asks if the detective wants to find the truth about his father and his past. Long has taken a sample of his blood and done a paternity test. He says that both of these reports are in, but that Long has not woken up from the accident. Long asks if Long killed her so that she wouldn't tell anyone about it. He doesn't want anyone to think that he killed her to cover up his part in her death. Long tells Long that he wanted to tell him everything, but he didn't get the chance. He went to get a test and found out that Long was his father's illegitimate child. He knew that he couldn't hide it, so he went for the test. Long wonders why the detective has been lying to him from the beginning.
