When Mingke comes to investigate the matter, he tells her that he will kill her if she doesn't tell him the truth about the baby. Mingke tells him that he is "ferocious and cruel" and that he suffocated his wife when she knew she was pregnant. She begs Mingke to come to her room and apologize to her, but Mingke refuses. He tells Mingke that he wants to make her pay for what she has done to him, and Mingke agrees to go ask her and her friend for dinner.
