About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of the underworld. It is described as a place of endless nights and moonlight. The narrator tells us that he has been working for the mysterious boss for many years. He tells the boss that he is tired of working for him, but the boss still pays him a lot of money for his work. He also tells the narrator that he once thought the boss was a fraud, but he has lived a happy life in the underworld for the past few years. The boss asks the narrator what he can do for him. The protagonist tells him that it took him a long time to get to the underworld, and that he hasn't seen the boss for a very long time. He says that he brought wine to the boss, and the boss even brought his supervisor back to life. He then tells the protagonist that the bond between human beings and god is short-lived, and he asks the protagonist if she will be reborn into a nice family. He wants to know if the protagonist will be able to wander in the world even if he's a god. When the protagonist says he can't, the protagonist asks him if he has a friend to take him out of the city. He realizes that the protagonist is not alone.
