The next morning, Kui asks if he can sleep in a tree for the night. He wants to know what the jade is, and if it's safe to get down on his own. Kui explains that the jade was sealed by the demon king, but the king left a curse that would prevent natural disasters from ever happening again. The jade has been hidden in the sky by the gods for thousands of years, and they compete with each other for it every hundred years. But Kui doesn't want to eat the meat on his dress, so he makes him a new one. He tells Kui that he thinks he's pretty powerful now, and that he'll buy him as many as he wants, so Kui will be his follower when he gets back to the real world.
