In this chapter, we learn more about the relationship between Zheyan and Ani. Ani asks what's going on between her and the other students, and Ani says that she's sorry, but she still wants to know more about her. She wants to make sure that everyone doesn't just judge her based on her appearance, and that they don't judge each other based on their social class. Ani tells us that she came to the university because she has a goal, and she wants to achieve it. She's sad that she and Ani haven't been able to achieve this goal together, because they're both poor people from the slums. They can't get into college because of the new government, but they still need to work together in order to achieve true peace. Ani admits that she knows what she should do, and how to do it, because she knows how to judge people's moral standing. She tells Ani that the other two students have applied for a change in their dormitory because they heard that Ani was staying with them, and they didn't want them to bother her and her fiance. Ani also tells her that she thinks it's a bad idea for her to be so critical of someone who's not even close to her, because it'll make them both look bad. Ani then tells us about the rumors that have been floating around town that Ani is engaged to a vampire.
