In this chapter, we learn that Dr. Bledsoe and the other vampires are trying to get the doctor to join them in order to kill the vampire who is trying to save his life. The doctor, however, is actually a pharmacist and has some medical knowledge, so he is able to treat the vampire. Dr. Roberts is also a vampire, but he has the ability to stop the war between vampires and humans if he agrees to a truce.
