About This Chapter
The witch tells the boy that if he's finished drinking her blood, then she'll let him go. The boy asks if she's going to give him the opportunity to run away, but the witch says that she can't, since they're not allowed to be together. She gives the boy his breakfast and tells him to throw it in the trash. She'll keep him alive for a moment, she says, and then eat it. She tells him that she doesn't want him to eat snakes, because he'll have to eat them anyway. He's thirsty, she tells him, but he can eat whatever he wants. He says that he sprained his ankle while walking and that he needs to get back to the jungle ASAP. He asks if the girl is avoiding one of the snakes that he has bitten, or avoiding the one that's been tough on him. She says that the girl has avoided the one with the lowest bite, and the girl with the highest bite. The girl says that if she were a kid, she'd call the girl a "bean sprout" instead of a "sweet bite mark" . The
