"Sweet bite marks" is the title of this chapter's opening scene. It's a bit of a mouthful, but we get the gist of what's going on in this scene. The narrator tells us that it's important to note that this is the first time that we've seen a vampire and a blood servant in the same room. The blood servant, Miss Dupuis, and the vampire, Mr. Rouncewell, are in the middle of a conversation about the upcoming ball at the college. The two of them are talking about the fact that Mr. Rousillon is still the head honcho of the college and the clan, and that's why he's so important to the vampire community. They're both worried that the girl will be jealous of what they're talking about, but the narrator reassures us that she won't be.
