About This Chapter
The next morning, the Governess is pleased to find that her son has grown up to be like his father. The Governess tells her son that they can use his newfound consciousness to save his father, and the two begin to talk about how they can teach the boy to eat more vegetables and less meat. She tells him that he can learn to be "human" by eating raw meat and gradually increasing the amount of vegetables in his diet. He will eventually learn to eat less meat and more vegetables, but it will be hard at first, she says, but he will eventually adjust to it. She says that she will teach him step-by-step so that he will become a "normal person" , and she scolds herself for being so immoral as to allow her son to live with a monster who has the same appearance as his own son.
