About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Dorian's sister, Esther, has left all of her assets to her husband, Jack, who will inherit them all. Esther's husband will be able to inherit all of his property as well, since the government recognizes that androids are "corporate bodies" and "allowed property ownership" . This means that they are subject to taxes, fines, and other forms of government regulation. Esther, however, will not be required to acknowledge that the punk is an independent existence, since it was Esther in the past who had the right to do so, and now she is in charge of him. Esther asks what the two of them are supposed to do now that she has found out that her sister doesn't care for her at all. She tells him that he should treat her nicely, since she will feel less upset if he treats her nicely. Esther tells him to clean up his place regularly, and to throw punch punch at him when he's ready. She then asks him how long it has been since he met Dorian, and he tells her that it has probably been eight years since he last saw her. He tells her to kill Dorian.
