In this chapter, the devil explains that he gave up everything he had for one woman, and that he found humans like himself who couldnt adjust to the work and put them in his plan. Because of this, he is now "slapping . . drip... . huff slap" . He says that if he had confessed earlier, he would not have to go through all of this pain, but now that he has confessed, it would be nice if he didn't go through it. The only exceptions to being under the surveillance of the devil are the demons disguised as humans, and the only way to stop himlena would be to get approval from the devil himself. The devil says that a low-ranking devil like him wouldn't even be able to get to the human side of the world, but if he can stop him, he doesn't care whether he's in danger. He explains that the devil is only a "low rank devil" who followed the instructions of helena. He asks the king to leave the task to the devil, but the king says that he will never disappoint him. He tells the king that he trusts helena and allows her to do whatever she wants, but that he is not sure where she is. He suggests using azazel, a hunting dog, to capture her, and using adam, a human, to find and kill her. He also says that they will use his "vengeance" to find her.
