When they run out of topics, Jenny reads her favorite book. It's a story about a wicked wizard who captures a man and tells him to search for his wife through the "land of fire" , through "the land of snow" and "through the land of the dragons" . Everyone says that the man is dead and that he's been captured by a "wicked wizard" who wants to know where his wife is. A spirit of fire tells the woman that if she gives him her hair, he'll let her know where her husband is. The woman gives her hair to the "spirit of fire," burns it, and then asks for something from the woman: her arm, her voice, her hair. The story ends with the woman falling in love with a dragon, and the dragon tells her that she's found her husband. She falls for the dragon and falls for him, and he tells her where she should find her husband, but he doesn't tell her where he is. In the end, the husband returns to the woman. Jenny and Tom sleep together in Tom's room.
