About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's better at school than he is at farm work. He's sorry, but he needs to focus more on his studies. He says that he came to the house as a farm worker, not as a student. Henry didn't say anything to that effect. He even started building a lodge for farm laborers in the next-to-the-farm empty lot. The narrator says that this is the place for him and henry, even if it is an outhouse. He doesn't want to have other people around, so he throws out all the other things that upset him, like the fact that henry hates him and throws away his shoes. Henry hires new farm workers, and the narrator thinks that he hates him even more than before. He gets a bald patch on the back of his head, which he thinks is a sign that Henry hates him. Henry throws away all his shoes, and he hires more farm workers. Henry tells the narrator that he loves him and wants him to live with him. He asks the narrator if he still wants to be his son, or if he wants to marry henry. He wants to know what the hell she means by " matchmaking" .
