About This Chapter
The narrator wakes up to find that he has been drinking too much. He realizes that he and his mom are going to go back to Korea together, and he asks his mom if he can go into her house to greet her. She says that she can, but that she will have to wait a day. The narrator tells his mom that he is going to get married soon, and she is happy to hear this news. He tells her that he went to see whales instead of catching a man, and that his mother's side of her is "refreshing" . He says that he will be able to get a call from his mother when he returns. He then tells her about the conversation he had with his mom the night before. He apologizes for his drinking, and says that his mom probably thinks that he must have been drunk. He admits that he thinks about it, and realizes that it is possible for people to talk nonsense even when they are drunk, as long as they do not make up something that is not true. He explains that if he does not want to greet his mother, then he can not go to her house.
