About This Chapter
The Governess tells the Governess that she finally decided what she wanted to do with her life. She was worried about her after all the "crazy stuff" about selling flowers, cakes, or whatever. She says that she decided to go into college because she wants to be strong for the entrance exams. She tells her that she's only going to be able to do so for a year and half, and that she has to keep studying until she gets into a college. She's worried about what's going to happen to her when she gets to college, because she doesn't want to be the type of person who has bad things happen to him. She also says that it's hard to get into colleges because she can't handle the high school work. She asks if she has any bad things ever happened to her, and she says she does. She then tells her to shut up, and says she'd just like to be a copyist or a tea maker. She goes on to say that she wouldn't have to eat so much to stay alive, but she would need money to buy food. She adds that she would like to get married, because someday she would be rewarded for her hard work. Then she says that if she gets married, she'll have more money to spend on food, and then she would have more time to spend with her boyfriend, because he'll be a reward for her efforts. She finally tells her not to worry, and to just enjoy the parts of studying and working that she loves. She reminds her that the only thing she can do is "go goof off."
