Enobaruchi and his men try to find a way out of the Sarcophagus, but they are interrupted by the sound of gunfire. They decide to go back to their barracks, where they can regroup and prepare for the next phase of their attack on the enemy. The men decide to take a pill, which they call the "initializer," which they believe will enable them to become human. They are afraid that the pill will kill them, so they decide to return to the barracks.
