The chapter opens with a soliloquy in which Hirohito tells the audience that he has found Dr. Coppelius hiding somewhere in Tokyo. He tells us that he and his men have no idea where he is hiding and that he is going to need a proper laboratory to analyze his own dna. He also says that they will run aground on a road and that they are going to have to go through a city of death to get there.
