In this chapter, we learn that the atmosphere is full of high levels of radiation, and the only way to escape is to fly to another planet. The only way out of the danger zone is to find a way out, but that's impossible, because the weather's already against them. They can't even trust the government, because they've already left the planet once, 20 years ago. Now they have to figure out an escape plan. The wind is blowing them back to the west, and they need to find an exit point.
