About This Chapter
The next morning, the three of them go for a long walk in the snow, and the narrator asks Haruki to teach him how to act like a normal person. Haruki says he'll teach him, too, since they're just three of us. He tells Haruki that he's more sensitive to the squeeze in his pant leg than usual, so he needs to make sure that Haruki is holding on tightly to him. The two of them continue on their hike, and Haruki tells the narrator that something is wrong with his friend, who's nowhere to be found. The narrator says that he can't figure out what's going on, and he'd like to call for help, but Haruki holds him so tightly that he doesn't feel any pain in his legs. He's doing better than he thought he was, and it's because Haruki's been so kind to him, and so attentive to the needs of the narrator.
