In this chapter, the two students discuss their feelings for each other. The two students decide to go out together, but they are interrupted by a knock at the door. The knock is from the history club, which is trying to recruit new members. The students decide that they need four new members, or the club will be dissolved. They decide to copy a bunch of the new members and pass them on to the other students. The chatter in the club room tells the students that they look like they're going to join the club, and that they like the new girl, who they call "the ball of sunshine" . The other students are impressed by the change in the girl's appearance, and she's joined the club just like everyone else. They're also impressed by her warm hands, which they hold for the first time when they enter the cave together.
