About This Chapter
The narrator introduces himself as "Kazuma Mutsumi" , and introduces himself to the other students as "mutsum san" . He asks them what they're up to, and they tell him that their brother lives alone and that they haven't been in touch with each other for a long time. He also asks them if they'd like to date each other. They all agree that the majority of them are guys, and that's why they want to be friends. The narrator then asks about the history club, and the students tell him about how their brother is a member and how he's been trapped inside a store. They also tell him how they ran into the girl they were hanging out with before they arrived, and how she's now their mom's cook. They're about to have dinner when the narrator tells them that the club is recruiting new members, and he wants to know what they need to keep a secret. They tell him they need a box of tangerines, but the narrator says he can't take it, because it's too high a price. He tells her that he'll be free to pursue the girl once his teaching career is over, and she tells him that she doesn't have any reason to stop him.
