The scene opens with a conversation between Kishi and Chihaya. Kishi tells Chihaya that he is going to support him in his fight against Arata. Chihaya tells Kishi that he should get his knee fixed so that he can play karuta again. The two exchange pleasantries, and Kishi says that he has been studying hard and is not moving forward in his studies. He says that when he wins or loses with Arata, he does not know how he would feel if he were not there. He asks Chihaya if he is doing well in the tournament and is told that he did not win in the first round, but that he won in the second round. He thanks Chihaya for his kind words and wishes him luck in the upcoming tournament.
